Modern Fusion Home

The client’s aim was clear: to craft a modern home grounded in cozy interiors filled with character and timeless elements. “I was brought on to build upon these ideas and create a more mature and nuanced vision of their home,” says Kissa Zehra of The Space Tales, who led the interior design project to bring a sense of intimacy to the large residence. “We used paneled walls, intricate molding profiles, antique mirrors, and wallpapered ceilings to create spaces that feel good on their own, even without the added layers of furnishings.” A subtle earthy color palette, achieved through furnishings and fixtures, warms the house throughout.

An aged, intricately carved wooden console set against a dramatic deep grey paneled wall with antique mirrors welcomes guests into the lovely home. Kissa styled the space with plenty of greenery by the window and collaborated with IAAH, a Delhi-based décor brand known for its beautiful collection of items. Charcoal black vases, carved wooden pieces, and other eclectic décor elements from IAAH have been used throughout the house, adding a personal touch that balances modern and traditional styles.

In this open-concept layout, Kissa created distinct yet harmonious zones. The formal living room features a combination of a beige sofa and checkered chairs paired with a vintage center table and marble-topped side tables. The area is anchored by a raw wooden log TV ledge, seamlessly flowing into the bar and dining areas. To unify these spaces, the antique mirror concept from the lobby was extended to the bar backdrop, paired with a louvered bar counter and marble top. Brass edges and rich materials lend the space an understated sense of luxury. “We applied a modern mindset to timeless design, creating a layered space they won’t tire of quickly,” explains Kissa.

The Mandir was designed as a focal element rather than being tucked away. Opening into the main passage, it features shutters made of fluted glass adorned with small brass bells, while the interior is finished with floral wallpaper and calming marble idols—reflecting serenity and elegance.

“The rooms are large, but they still feel cozy,” says Kissa. The master bedroom features a wooden four-poster bed reminiscent of a boutique hotel. The color palette is softly saturated with sun-bleached tones, creating a soothing ambiance. Surrounded by windows, the space embodies simplicity and balance, where a vintage carved bed contrasts beautifully with a modern glass wardrobe and wallpapered ceiling—a perfect modern fusion. The second bedroom continues this story with a simple palette of off-whites and wooden textures.

Beautiful rugs from Siva Delhi add vibrant pops of color and pattern, infusing the home with personality and warmth. Each piece contributes to the overall narrative of the home, creating a cohesive story of design and emotion.

Kissa Zehra skillfully brought the clients’ dreams of a perfect home to life, making every square foot purposeful and intentional. “Working on the project was tough,” recalls Kissa, “but the happy faces of the clients made every minute worth it.”
